GigaTribe Beta Version 3.4

Beta version 3.4 available for testing
Who shall use version 3.4 Beta?
Beta version 3.4 is not a final release, there may still have bugs, translations issues, etc…
Beta version is for users willing to help GigaTribe release a better version. Bug detected during beta test will be fixed before releasing a final version.

Joining the Beta test
Beta version is available for download here : http://www.gigatribe.com/software/Gigatribe_Setup_Beta.exe.
The tests will focus on the performance and stability of this version. Problems occuring between a Beta version and an older version will not be handled (for example users  appearing disconnected with version 3.1.7).
If 2 users using version 3.4 do not see each other, we will investigate to fix the problem.You may find other beta tester by joining the Tribe : www.gigatribe.com/tribes/GT3.4_Beta

What’s new in version 3.4
Bugs Fixed

• There should be no more users appearing disconnected while they are both connected. It only works for users with version 3.4.
• The error message ‘ERROR_CANNOT LISTEN’ won’t appear anymore for users with EasyConnect/VPN.

SSL

• Connection between the GigaTribe software and the database now uses SSL encryption.

EasyConnect/VPN

• Any user connected with EasyConnect/VPN will transfer every file though our EasyConnect/VPN. This way, the IP address of EasyConnect users will remain anonymous, even for their contacts using direct connection.
• Connection mode can be selected from the network settings.
• EasyConnect/VPN transfer speed has been improved.
• Users connected with EasyConnect/VPN have their name displayed in blue.

Version 3.3 scheduled before christmas

Dear Tribers,

We’re working hard to prepare the next version.
Our top priority is to fix the existing bugs and to improve the transfer speed.

Next  version will be released before christmas, beta versions should be available by the end of november.

This version will also be available for Mac, Linux is not scheduled yet.

Invalid user

Our hosting provider has detected a problem on the GigaTribe database server.
While fixing the problem, the database has been corrupted: some users accounts have been erased.
If your username has been erased, you won’t be able to connect to the software, an error message will be displayed instead: “Invalid user, this username doesn’t exist”

We’re retrieving data from our backup servers to restore the lost information.
To help us restore your data, please send an email at contact@gigatribe.com with ‘invalid user’ as subject. Mention your username and your approximative creation date if you remember it.

We’ve restored almost every account which had been lost. Everyone can connect with its username, contact network and software licence.

Users who had been created 4 hours before the hard drive crashed could not be restored, information was still in memory  when the crash happened.

We’ve received tons of email during the last 2 days and we haven’t been able to respond them all. Do not hesitate to write us again if you are still having connection issue: contact@gigatribe.com

The latest problems have been fixed. All transactions since 1 September were restored and the latest Ultimate licenses were reactivated.

During the period October 10 to 11, we received a lot of emails about this incident.
We cannot give an answer to all these emails so we invite you to rewrite contact@gigatribe.com if your problem persists (subject- Accounts or missing License).
All the emails not related to this problem we will respond as soon as possible.

 

The end of 2.52 version

We are going to block versions 2.52 on Wednesday.
We realize that some of you liked this version as it was very easy to use and also it proposed the multi-user discussion that is not yet available in version 3.
However this version was limited:
• It was only available for PC,
• the recently shared files did not display in different colors,
• A user could not belong to a different category at the same time.
Moreover, the file transfer protocol of version 2 was different from the version 3. For each evolution we had to maintain compatibility with the old protocol. Having version 2 and version 3 on the same network also has created some problems in the chat windows (public messages appeared in the private tab).
On Wednesday, September 21, users of version 2 will have to uninstall version2 and then reinstall the latest version of the current software. The version is available at: http://www.gigatribe.com/en/download
We would like to mention that this modification does not affect on Premium or Ultimate users.

Version 2.52 issues

Issues have been reported with version 2.52:
– 2.52 users can no longer accept invitation: it generates an error message saying the maximum limit has been reached.
– 2.52 users receive message from ***Admin*** that cannot be deleted.

We’re investigating to understand why these problems have appeared since 2 days.

If the investigation requires too much time we’ll probably block version 2.52 earlier than expected.

Dear Tribers ,
We are very happy to inform our upcoming news:

GigaTribe 3.3 version will be available soon.
The priority of this version is to correct the existing problems.
One of the reasons why certain problems persist for several months is the use of different versions of GigaTribe: version 2.52, 3.0.20, 3.1.7, 3.2.4.
We will block all the existing versions and will replace them with a version 3.3.
This version is under development and will be released in the last quarter of 2011.
This version will be available for Windows and Mac.

Online tribes creation.
The tribes will allow to easily find users who share the same interests like you or who are in the same group as you: family, association, etc….
Any user can create a tribe and decide who can join to it.
The tribe members can see each other and send invitations to each other to join their private network.
The tribes will be available on our website in the end of September 2011.
